November 2023 Ballot Proposals

Question #1

Separate Proposal # 1 is for construction costs to install security vestibules at the main entrance of each of the six district schools in the 2023/2024 school year and ongoing building and security costs and enhancements, including the maintenance of surveillance systems, the employment of security personnel, the maintenance of cyber security software, and the fortification of the building perimeters at all six schools, at a cost of $850,000. 

Voter approval of this proposal will represent a permanent increase in the tax levy of 1.23%.

Question #1 Supporting Statement

Separate Proposal # 1 is for the construction costs to install security vestibules at the main entrance of each of the six district schools in the 2023/2024 school year.  In the subsequent years, the funds will be used for ongoing security costs and enhancements, including the maintenance of surveillance systems, the employment of security personnel, the maintenance of cyber security software, and the fortification of the building perimeters at all six schools, at a cost of $850,000 per year.

Voter approval of this proposal will represent a permanent increase in the tax levy of 1.23%, meaning that the tax levy will increase by 1.23% and the actual dollar amount of that increase will become part of the base budget moving forward.

Question #2

Separate Proposal # 2 is for the cost of health benefits for a portion of the paraprofessional staff employed in each school year at a cost of $900,000.

Voter approval of this proposal will represent a permanent increase in the tax levy of 1.30%.

Question # 2 Supporting Statement

Separate Proposal # 2 will provide the funds to offer a portion of the paraprofessional staff health benefits as part of their employment contract.  This will enhance the district’s ability to recruit and retain paraprofessional staff members through a compensation package that is competitive with neighboring districts. Paraprofessional staff members support students receiving special education services throughout the district.

Voter approval of this proposal will represent a permanent increase in the tax levy of 1.30%, meaning that the tax levy will increase by 1.30% and the dollar amount of that increase will become part of the base budget moving forward.
